Expert Profile:

Dr. Niu Guoyue has been an associate professor at the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences, the University of Arizona. He has served as the Director of the UA Hydrometeorology Program since 2014. He obtained his bachelor's degree at the Lanzhou University in 1989 and Ph.D. from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998. He is one of the developers of the Noah-MultiParameterization Land Surface Model (NOAH-MP LSM). He earned the CCSM (Community Climate System Model) distinguished achievement award by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in 2008 for his work on developing novel surface water and groundwater model for use in CCSM. His major research interests are land surface modeling, ecohydrology, and global and regional climate modeling. He has published > 140 papers with a citation number of ~15,000. He has served as associate editor of Water Resources Research, and reviewer for more than 20 academic journals and proposals for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
