Lecturer Profile

Ma Xuanlong, is a young researcher and a master's student, with research interests in remote sensing of vegetation ecology and environmental change in vulnerable areas. He has conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, and the Max Planck Society, Germany. He is in charge of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of Gansu Province, and the Interdisciplinary Innovation Team of Central Universities. He has published 43 papers in English and Chinese, including 13 papers with first/corresponding authorship and a total of 1381 citations. The paper entitled "Abrupt shifts in phenology and vegetation productivity under climate extremes" published in JGR has received international attention and has been featured in Nature and AGU Eos as News & Views and Research Spotlight respectively. In 2020, he was awarded the Kamide Lecture Award by the Asia-Oceania Geoscience Society and gave an invited lecture. In 2021, he was invited by the Office of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to be a member of the expert group for the report on "Big Earth Data for Sustainable Development" (one of the series of national activities for the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the legal seat of the United Nations). He is currently an editorial board member of the SCI journal Remote Sensing and a reviewer of RSE, GRL, JGR, GCB, and other academic journals.

Wang Meimei is a lecturer and postdoctoral fellow with research interests in land use, population change, and resident perception. She is the chair of one project of the Central University Special Fund, participates in five projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participates in the second comprehensive scientific expedition to Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (Task 10 and Theme 5). She has published 28 papers in English and Chinese, 13 papers as a first/corresponding author, and co-edited one textbook. She is currently a member of the Chinese Geographical Society (GSC), the American Geographical Society (AAG), the International Chinese Geographic Information Science Society (CPGIS), the Ningxia Ecological Society, and the Western China Environmental and Ecological Science Data Centre. She is currently a guest editor of the SCI journal Sustainability and a reviewer for academic journals such as Northwest Population, Ningxia Social Science, and Gansu Social Science.
